Learning at Orchard Early Years
At Orchard Early Years, our team is passionate and committed to helping every child reach their full potential. We aim to ensure children become active, resilient learners who leave us feeling confident, capable, and ready for the next chapter in their education.
We follow the EYFS and bring it to life through our bespoke, carefully designed curriculum (Further Details can for found on our ‘Policies and Documents Page’). Created with input from staff, parents, and children, our curriculum celebrates what makes Orchard Early Years unique and reflects the rich learning environment and community we are part of (Further Details can for found on our ‘Policies and Documents Page’).
We support children’s development through purposeful play, meaningful teaching moments, and a stimulating environment. By working closely with families, we get to know each child’s individual needs and interests, enabling us to tailor experiences that nurture their growth, confidence, and curiosity.

Nursery Values
Through our curriculum, we aim to educate the whole child. A key part of this is promoting and modelling our Nursery values every day.
Be Kind
We show kindness by using gentle hands and feet, speaking kindly, and helping one another.
Be Safe
We stay safe by knowing our limits, listening to rules, and taking care in our play.
Be Curious
We stay curious by exploring, asking questions, and trying new experiences.
Be Respectful
We show respect by listening to others, taking care of our resources and environment, and using good manners such as saying please and thank you.

SEND and INCLUSION
Orchard Early Years is fully committed to the SEND Code of Practice, ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive. We work closely with families to identify strengths and challenges early on and create personalised support plans that promote learning, confidence, and well-being.
Our team values open communication, regular reviews, and strong partnerships with parents and external professionals. Together, we provide an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child is supported to reach their full potential.

Parents and Carers Partnerships
We feel privileged that parents and carers trust us with their children, and we aim to nurture a genuine sense of family and belonging. Strong relationships with families are at the heart of our approach.
Home visits help us begin these partnerships before children start with us. They offer a calm and familiar way to build relationships, ease the transition into Nursery, and provide a deeper understanding of each child’s home environment and family culture.
We also offer settling-in sessions, tailored to each child’s needs, to help both children and parents feel secure and confident as they begin Nursery life.
Once children have started, we communicate regularly with families to celebrate milestones, share learning, and discuss progress or support needs. We frequently update our social media pages with highlights from our day, and we share photos and observations on Tapestry so families remain fully involved in their child’s learning.

Extra-Curricular Opportunities
We enrich our curriculum with visits, outings, and visitors who broaden the children’s experiences and deepen their understanding of the world around them. These opportunities also help children develop a sense of belonging within their local community.
Our extra-curricular activities include:
-
Weekly off-site music and dance sessions
-
Baby and story massage
-
Cooking sessions
-
Theatre trips
-
And many more enriching experiences
